An increasing number of cities are considering urban forests and the integration of nature-based solutions to resolve myriad urban challenges. In December 2023 the U.S. Department of the Interiorannouncedits support of such strategies. The UN Environment Programme has a suite oftoolkitson how to implement nature-based solutions, with benefits ranging from climate change mitigation toloneliness in cities. Nature-based solutions, and the role of planning and planners, are also explored in the APA Learn course "Nature-Based Solutions for Hazard Mitigation and Community Resilience."
