About This Trend

A variety of provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act reflect a commitment at the federal level to reduce the exposure of underserved communities to direct climate impacts and provide funding to address chronic disinvestment and environmental neglect. The IRA commits upwards of$46 billionto climate justice priorities, including$8 billionto support emissions reductions for low-income, underserved, and underrepresented communities and $3 billion to address the historic injustices of highway development through urban neighborhoods.
