This article introduces the community land trust (CLT) model and looks at how neighborhood organizers are using it to promote affordable housing development and preservation. It discusses the opportunities and challenges of operating a CLT that includes development, compared to fostering development partnerships. Table 1 summarizes the five organizations featured in the article.
